After the reforming and opening-up for more than 30 years, the foreign trade in Xiaoshan District has achieved considerable development, thus laying a foundation for the transformation and upgrading of the foreign trade economy. 改革开放以来，萧山出口始终保持平稳较快发展，从2013年到2015年期间，萧山进出口总额140.9亿美元、138.5亿美元和118.8亿美元，分别占杭州市出口的25%、23.2%和20%；出口总额分别为94.6亿美元、99.9亿美元和91.6亿美元，分别占24.6%、23.3%和21%。进出口和出口总额位列杭州市第一。出口商品以传统产品为主，按出口比重排列，前六大类商品分别为：机电产品、纺织品、服装、羽绒及其制品、家具、化工，占出口总额比重达89.26%。发达国家和地区仍然是出口主要目的地，欧美市场出口比重高达50.67%。截止2015年底，全区有实绩出口企业共计1998家。
Since the reform and opening-up, the export in Xiaoshan District has always keeping stable and rapid development. During the period from 2013 to 2015, the total export-import volume in Xiaoshan District is USD 14.09 billion, USD 13.85 billion, and USD 11.88 billion respectively, accounting for 25%, 23.2%, and 20% of the export volume in Hangzhou respectively; the total export volume is USD 9.46 billion, USD 9.99 billion, and USD 9.16 billion respectively, accounting for 24.6%, 23.3%, and 21% of that in Hangzhou respectively. Both the total export-import volume and the total export volume in Xiaoshan District rank the first place in Hangzhou. The export of the commodity is mainly based on traditional products. Arranged by the export proportion, the top six categories of the commodity include mechanical and electronic product, textile, garment, down features and its products, furniture, chemical products, accounting for 89.26% of the total export volume. The advanced countries and regions are still the main export destinations. The proportion of the export volume to European and American market reaches 50.67%. By the end of 2015, there have been 1,998 export enterprises with actual performance in Xiaoshan District.

In recent years, the export volume of mechanical and electronic products accounts for approximately 25% of the total export volume in the whole district; as the important industrial sector for export in Xiaoshan District, the export volume of mechanical and electronic products in Xiaoshan District accounts for more than 30% of the total export volume in the whole district in 2015. 萧山机电产业拥有1200多家企业，从业人员约8.9万人，其中规模以上机电产业生产企业有470家，从业人员4.3万人，规模以下生产企业732家，从业人员4.6万人。2015年机电产业规模以上企业实现工业总产值704亿元，实现利润39.18亿元。萧山区的机电产业以民营企业为主，规模以上企业68％为民营企业，31.5％为外商独资、中外合资型企业，国有企业只占0.5％。产品门类比较齐全，行业覆盖面宽，主要涉及金属制品业、通用设备制造业 、专用设备制造业、交通运输设备制造业、电器机械及器材制造业、电子及通信设备制造业6大类和40多个子行业，初步形成产业聚集，具有一定的规模优势，在研发能力、制造装备、人力资源、市场营销等方面都具有较好的产业基础。
In Xiaoshan District, there are more than 1,200 enterprises in mechanical and electronic industry and approximately 89,000 employed persons, including 470 mechanical and electronic manufacturers above the designated size and 43,000 employed persons, and 732 mechanical and electronic manufacturers below the designated size and 46,000 employed persons. In 2015, the enterprises above the designated size in mechanical and electronic industry realized the total industrial output value of RMB 70.4 billion Yuan and profit of RMB 3.918 billion Yuan. The mechanical and electronic industry in Xiaoshan District is mainly based on private enterprises. 68% of the enterprises above the designated size are private enterprises, 31.5% are wholly-foreign-owned enterprises and sino-foreign joint ventures, and only 0.5% are the state-owned enterprises. With completely assorted products and broad industrial coverage, it involves six major categories including metal manufacturing, general equipment manufacturing, special equipment manufacturing, transportation equipment manufacturing, electrical machine and equipment manufacturing, and electronic and communication equipment manufacturing, and more than 40 sub-industries, takes initial shape of industrial agglomeration, creates certain scale advantage, and lays a solid industrial foundation in respects of R&D capacity, manufacturing equipment, human resources, and marketing.

2012年到2015年期间，萧山机电产品年平均出口26.1亿美元，出口占比逐年增加，分别为26.96%、27.9%、28.96%和31.63%。出口产品主要传动机械（包括船用齿轮箱、减速机、传动链条、输送机等），交通运输（汽车零部件）、输变电设备（包括中低压变压器、中低压开关、电气元件等），纺织机械（包括剑杆织机、倍捻机、绣花机、粗纱机等），数控机床及零部件，通用机械（各类泵、阀门等），发电设备（水电、风电设 备及部件），以及起重运输设备、电动工具等，技术含量和附加值相对较高。通过外贸转型升级培育，可以在自主品牌出口率、出口产品质量和附加值以及出口额上得到进一步的提升。
From 2012 to 2015, the annual average export volume of mechanical and electronic products in Xiaoshan reached USD 2.61 billion, and the proportion of export increased year by year, accounting for 26.96%, 27.9%, and 31.63% respectively. The main export products include transmission machinery (including marine gearbox, reducer, transmission chain, and conveyor), transportation products (automotive parts), power transmission and transformation equipment (including medium- and low-voltage transformer, medium- and low-voltage switch, and electrical elements), textile machinery (including rapier loom, twisting machine, embroidery machine, and roving frame), numerical control machine tool and parts, general-purpose machinery (various types of pumps and valves), power generating equipment (hydropower and wind power equipment and components), as well as the hoisting and transporting equipments, and electrical tools with higher technical content and added value. By the upgrading, transformation and cultivation of foreign trade, it is possible to further raise the export rate of independent brand, improve the quality and added value of export products, and increase the export volume.

2015年，萧山园区经过评审公示通过，成为杭州市跨境电子商务综合试验区线下园区，重点建设空港、开发区、邮政和新塘四大跨境电子商务产业园，初步形成了萧山园区“一园四区”的发展格局。同时，空港产业园和开发区产业园被确定为省级试点园区；杭州传美跨境物流有限公司的美国洛杉矶仓和杭州准时达供应链管理有限公司的香港邦泰仓被确定为浙江省公共海外仓。2015年，全区完成跨境电商出口2.1亿美元，进口8300万美元。
In 2015, after passing the review and proclamation, Xiaoshan Park became the offline park subordinate to Hangzhou Cross-Border E-Commerce Comprehensive Pilot Area, and laid the stress on the construction of four major cross-border e-commerce industrial parks including air port, development zone, postal service and Xintang, and took the initial shape of the development pattern of “one park and four zones”. 萧山区积极实施品牌战略，培育省市区三级出口名牌。截止目前，全区共有注册商标25822件，境外商标1205件，国家商标战略示范企业1家。出口名牌88个，其中省级出口名牌26个，市级出口名牌62个。87家出口企业在商务百事通上完成了自主品牌网上信息备案，2015年备案企业自主品牌产品出口金额为14870万美元，占全区出口总额的1.85%。涌现出万向钱潮股份有限公司、杭州前进齿轮箱集团股份有限公司、杭州新九龙厨具制造有限公司、杭州钱江电气集团股份有限公司和杭州发达齿轮箱集团有限公司等出口总额大，自主品牌出口占比达85%以上的企业。
